Another research on light is addressed by Javier Martin , who has been dealing with the concept of perceived beauty for several years, inspiring himself with advertising campaigns that portray beautiful women. He appropriates the iconography of these to diminish the perception of perfection, a feature now predominant in the current consumer society that looks without seeing. In this concept of social “Blindness” which is simulated in the piece Blindness Light (2017), work in which the Spanish artist combines a glamorous portrait with colored neon. The technique consists of printing the selected photograph in black and white on paper and make it adhere to a wooden palette, or alternatively print it directly on the wooden surface, and then paint it with oil or acrylic paint to create imperfections, obstructing finally the eyes of the model with neon tubes.
